Benchmark

The benchmark is a test to see what systems users will be running the game on. This gives us a better perspective of our user community and how to tailor the game to best fit their systems.

It runs a scene that is made with typical gameplay stress levels to emulate a level of the game. At the end of the test a log file is produced containing system info and stress results. No personal user data is collected during the test.

Running the Benchmark

  • Firstly, download the benchmark files from the link bellow. Extract the files and place them where ever you wish.
  • Open benchmark.blend (Blender 2.49) or benchmark_2.5.blend (Blender 2.5) Earlier versions of Blender are untested.
  • Run the benchmark by pressing P. Please run in full screen mode. For best results, please close all other applications.
  • Wait for the benchmark to end. DO NOT end the benchmark early. Ending the benchmark early won’t produce the log file.
  • When the benchmark has completed, check the blender console for the location and name of the log file.
  • Locate the log file and email it to us at benchmark@sintelgame.org
  • DO NOT copy and paste the data into the email, send the file as an attachment.

  • Requirements

To run the benchmark you will need a few things:

  • Blender 2.49 or Blender 2.5
  • If you are running 2.49 you will need Python 2.6

  • Notes

  • The benchmark will close when complete.
  • sintel_b.blend stores our sintel character and her logic, which is linked into benchmark.blend. It will only open in 2.5
  • The 2.49 version of the benchmark will display the sintel model as inverted. This is normal behavior.
  • Again, DO NOT copy and paste the data into the email, send the file as an attachment.

  • Download

    Download the benchmark files.
