Over the past couple weeks we’ve realized that it would be a good idea to gather some hardware info so we can determine the minimum requirements for the game. We can also find out if we can bump up the graphics or if we should dim them down.

So we made a benchmark!

A few things to note:

  • Read all the instructions before running the test!
  • In the 2.49 version, Sintel is inverted.
  • Email the log file (as an attachment) to benchmark@sintelgame.org
  • There was a mistake in the benchmark file that wrote the wrong email address. This has been fixed, however if you receive a mail delivery error make sure the address is correct : benchmark@sintelgame.org

I tried to send by mail, but it’s refusing… I know you don’t want copy and paste but everything was nice here.

    2. Hi There,

I’d like to discuss some things privately with you/someone about the project. Please email me directly. Thanks!

There was a little error where the address in the benchmark file writes benchmark@sintelgame.com instead of benchmark@sintelgame.org. If anyone is having mail delivery errors please resend the file to benchmark@sintelgame.org.

Thanks and sorry for the confusion!

The idea is flawed. Benchmarks attract all kinds of overclocking people, who probably aren’t part of your user-base. I think it’d be better, if you included multiple stages of detail that users can choose from.

Looking at the_end.png made me sad. :(

Hey, I can’t view your site properly within Opera, I actually hope you look into fixing this.

      great work!

But there is a problem with the benchmark. You should capture the fps in a list and calculate an average value from this list at the end. So you could spot out where the bottlenecks are and have a more representative fps value.

Also Sintel should be animated during the benchmark. – playing actions is still a big performance issue in BGE.

I’ve build an own benchmark suit for my game, based upon your ideas. If there is an interest in that, let me know.

      best regards, moerdn
